My Kitchen Prayer

Bless my little kitchen Lord
And light it with Thy Love.
Help me plan and make my meals
From Thy heavenly home above.
Bless our meals with Thy Presence
And warm them with Thy grace;
Watch over me as I do my work,
Washing pots and pans and plates.
The service I am trying to do
Is make my family content,
So bless my eager efforts Lord
and make them heaven sent.

This is from a plaque that I bought at a local thrift store.

Puritans on Marriage

"The woman is not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved"

Matthew Henry

"Her cheek was meant for thy lips, not for thy fist!"

"Before man had any other calling, he was called to be a husband....First man must choose his love, and then he must love his choice....The man and wife are partners, like two oars in a boat."

Henry Smith

"It is a mercy to have a faithful friend that loveth you whom you may open your mind and communicate your affairs...And it is a mercy to have so near a friend to be a helper to your soul stir up in you the grace of God"

Richard Baxter

Men and Flowers

"Sometimes a man has to give flowers to a woman.Even if it's his own sister."

John-Boy Walton (The Waltons)

"Sensible girls won't let me send them 'flowers and things',so what can I do? My feelings must have a went."

Laurie (Little Women)

My favorite memory was when my father, one Christmas, promised to give my mom a flower once a week for one year--it may have been a flower from a florist or a bouquet of wildflowers which he had picked before returning home. She wouldn't know when he was to bring them, so as to make it very special. He always found the right moment to give it to her. Christmas lasted all year instead of just one day! This has always been a treasured memory, for a person doesn't have to do much to make someone feel special.

John Gaunt, the Duke of Lancaster: You have gone too far this time.I have seen what you have written on the Holy Eucharist.

John Wycliffe:Transubstantiation is a modern doctrine. The Pope in the fourth lateran counsel proclaimed it less than two hundred years ago.

John Gaunt: I care not when it was proclaimed,it is believed throughout the whole of Christendom.

John Wycliffe: My noble Duke, the fact that something is believed by the mulitudes does not necessary make it true.
